OPERATION

Source water coming under pressure from a submersible, centrifugal or bulldozer pump passes through a multi media filter. The media is initially course to take out larger material without clogging the filter. Progressively the media becomes finer until all unwanted material is extracted.

As the filter media's resistance to water flow begins to increase a sensor tells and actuator to reverse the inlet to become an outlet and visa versa to introduce clean water under high pressure from an already filtered source. The backflush of clean water disturbes the filter medium sufficiently to dislodge contaminants for a predetermined effective duration.

When the set backflush has ceased and the media is cleaned the actuator returns the inlet to once again allow water in from the contaminated source. The whole cycle can be set to occur at low demand times.
